Merger Integration Leadership
Led operational integration efforts during significant institutional consolidation, aligning systems, processes, and teams across legacy organizations.
This included the technical integration of two acquisitions, and the consolidation of seven finance centers into four without interrupting operations.
The work spanned operational due diligence pre-deal through to post-merger integration management. Key responsibilities included reconciling parallel systems environments, defining target operating models, sequencing technology cutovers to minimize business disruption, and managing the human dimensions of organizational consolidation — reporting changes, role redefinition, and culture integration.
Enterprise Systems Deployment
Directed coast-to-coast rollout of Salesforce across Canadian operations, including change management, user enablement, and platform governance.
The rollout lifted sales 9% in its first year, alongside concurrent technology rollouts to more than 5,000 users nationwide.
The engagement involved migrating thousands of users from legacy customer relationship management systems onto a unified platform, with regional rollout phases adapted to local business requirements. The work required tight coordination between technology delivery teams, regional business sponsors, and corporate governance.
Business Continuity Programs
Designed and implemented BCP and disaster recovery frameworks for critical banking operations, with formal testing and executive reporting.
The program addressed both technology recovery (data center failover, application restoration, network resilience) and operational continuity (alternate work locations, manual processing procedures, customer communication protocols). Annual testing was structured around realistic disruption scenarios, with after-action reporting directly to executive committee.
Payments Infrastructure
Oversaw payments systems initiatives at scale, addressing modernization, regulatory alignment, and operational resilience.
Work in this area included migrations from legacy payments platforms to modern real-time systems, alignment to evolving regulatory frameworks (including AML/KYC requirements and payment-system oversight), and the operational rigor required to maintain processing reliability through transitions.
Board Technology Governance
Chaired the technology committee of a publicly listed, regulated financial-services company in Jamaica.
Established the committee’s charter, terms of reference and working rhythm with management, with board oversight of technology strategy, cybersecurity, AI readiness, business continuity, third-party risk and data protection.
Multi-Site Technology Operations
Led technology operations for a multi-site operator in Florida for more than six years, on a $2.6 million annual operating budget.
The work covered Microsoft 365 and Azure administration end to end, hardening of identity and access controls, backup and recovery proven by testing, a data-protection framework with a processor register and impact assessments, and a statewide EMV chip-card program delivered to PCI-DSS compliance.
Operational Risk and Control
Throughout these initiatives, the constant thread has been managing operational risk and control. Financial institutions operate under regulatory expectations that change is delivered without compromise to controls, customer experience, or regulatory compliance.
The discipline of operating within these constraints — while still moving institutions forward on significant initiatives — is the core competency Liguanea brings to client work today.
Representative mandates
The firm is structured to lead engagements of the following kind for Caribbean organizations. They are illustrative of the work Liguanea is built to deliver, drawn from the disciplines set out across this site.
- Post-merger operational integration — aligning systems, processes, and teams after a consolidation, against a defined target operating model and a sequenced cutover plan.
- Data protection compliance program — bringing an organization into line with the Data Protection Act, from gap assessment and OIC registration through policies, processing records, and a working data protection officer arrangement.
- Core systems or platform transition — senior governance over a complex implementation, protecting controls, service, and regulatory standing through the change.
- Operational resilience review — designing or testing business continuity and disaster recovery against realistic disruption scenarios, with reporting fit for the board.
- AI and customer data governance review — establishing which AI tools and vendors touch customer data, bringing them under approval and contract, and holding them to the Data Protection Act before a regulator or a headline asks.
